What is a polypodium?
polypodium is one type of genus or classification of real ferns. There are many types of polybodium ferns. The name Polypodium comes from ancient Greek words Polys , which means "many" and background , which means "leg". This word is used to describe the somewhat foot appearance of fern rhizomes and the root system. Their ancestors existed more than 360 million years ago. The ferns were on Earth for almost 200 million years before the flowering plants even began to exist. They are vascular plants with well -structured internal venous systems. This venous system is somewhat similar to the venous system of people in that it provides the plant with the basic needs of water and nutrients throughout the body.
Unlike other vascular plants, however, the ferns are not produced by pollination or educating their seeds. Instead, the fern plant is reproduced by releasing its spores. These disputes are usually relatively small and can be abundant. Can be found in black colors, brown, red, green or even yellow. Although they are not too large and can be quite slight, every spore is able to produce another fern when the conditions are correct.
polypodium can be found in many parts of the world, including parts of North America, Europe and Asia. Although all the same classes are, different species may look quite different and have different shapes and size of the leaves. The size of the blade of these ferns may even differ from 9 inches (22.9 cm) to more than 30 inches (76.2 cm).
, however, most polypodies prefer the same type of habitat and many of them have as an askal area that has a damp and slightly acidic but well -drained soil. Amorphum, which grow in parts of the British Columbia and the western part of North America, are often found among cracks in rocks or mountain cornice. SCULERI AND HESPERIUM are two more polybodium ferns that have adapted to this tYPU stations and seem to grow in these conditions.
