What is psychometry?

Psychometry, literally translated from Greek as a "soul measure", is a form of psychological ability that allows people to "read" the objects they hold. This term should not be confused with psychometrics, various types of tests that could measure IQ, emotional capacity or evaluate learning capabilities. In fact, because the terms are so close, some media can use the term token-object reading instead of psychometry.

In the novel Stephen King, the novel from 1979 The Dead Zone man who has been in a coma for several years will awaken with the gift of psychometry. By holding objects, he can gain sense of who used them and is able to solve a number of brutal killing psychometry. The idea that the king uses is a fascinating that has captivated people long before King's novel. People with a high degree of psychological abilities. Since then, although it is extremely difficult to verify that someone really has psychometry, police investigators have turned to the psyche with evidence and asked them, andwould try to identify the position or identity of criminals.

This is the case of Allison Dubois, who claimed that she worked in several criminal investigative matters. Her experience is the basic story for the TV show media . The department, for which she worked, did not support her claims and was the subject of criticism. Many believe that the whole field of psychological phenomenon does not exist. However, there are some alleged occurrences where people with the ability to use psychometry helped solve crimes.

Psychometry opponents suggest that in what media it is really good is reading the expectations of people around Tem and performing on the spot. The media that claims to have gifts in psychometry claims that they were not exactly enthusiastic, that they have psychic gifts, and that "see dead people" or use psychometry to read objects are exposing them to terrible images and thoughts that most people would give without whichwould be.
