What is the golden toad?

Gold Ropuch, known scientifically as bufo periglens , comes from Costa Rica. The species occupied the forests of northern Costa Rica and it is believed to disappear. They are known for their clear color, relying on visual allusions and their links to other amphibians. Although the name Golden can indicate yellow color, male toads have orange color. Female gold toads are black with gold and red brands. When young, men and women have similar color and look almost identical. This area is usually wet and tropical. Gold toads would use this rainy habitat to reproduce. They usually kept between April and June, which timely coincided with the rainy season in the forest area. Wiring is approximately 200 to 400 eggs. The eggs would remain in the pool until metamorphosis, which lasts approximately five weeks. In fact, suddenly there were eight times as many men, which was for an interesting season of mating. Men would compete for the women they associated with, and would often interrupt the mating of others.

gold toads used visual allusions more often than other toads. Other toads use voice recognition for pairing and communicating. On the other hand, gold toads seemed to prefer visual recognition, except in cases of vocal calls during the mating process.

Scientists study various other aspects of gold toad. This includes similarities between gold toads and other amphibians. Species such as bufo hodridgei share similar behavior and environmental preferences with gold toad. Both species often hide underground, with the exception of reproduction periods. This gave scientists a small room for observing typical behavior after the mating season.

Over time, it is assumed that the species referred to as gold toad has disappeared. Scientists have seen a decrease in the number of gold toad during the 1987 drought in a forest reserve. This left only 29 observable gold toad remaining fromthe original 30,000. Since 1991, scientists have not been able to find any gold toads. Gold toads are prone to hiding underground, so there is still a possibility that some of the population has survived.
