What is the Junior League?
The Association of Junior Leagues International Inc (Ajli) is an international non -profit organization of women who are determined to support volunteering, education and community management. The Association operates 293 junior leagues throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada and the UK. It is estimated that there are now more than 170,000 members of the Junior League around the world. Soon afterwards, ambitious young women from all over the United States began to create similar service organizations. In 1912, the Junior League of Montreal gave global importance for the group mission by becoming the first junior league outside the US. Many members of the American and Canadian Junior League even served overseas to provide assistance to military staff in need.
Today, Junior League members are responsible for implementing various improvements in their communities. Members started recycling programs, projects of community beautification,Free medical clinics, literacy campaigns and clothing for foster children. Each chapter is encouraged to brainstorm ways to use their skills and talents to impact.
Traditionally, one of the most important ways that the Junior League raises funds for its projects is to publish chefs. In 1943, the Junior League in Minneapolis received $ 3,000 USD (USD) by issuing a cookbook of membership recipes. Inspired by this Accompling, other chapters followed a suit with a number of cookbooks. Ajli also published three compilations of the cook as part of the national efforts for fundraising.
As evidence of the importance of the group, it is interesting to note that many of the most important and influential women in the world were once members of their local junior league. According to the AJLI website, Eleanor Roosevelt, Audrey Hepburn, Barbara Bush, Sandra Day O'Connor andEudora Welta among the most famous junior league graduates.
Junior League membership is open to all women regardless of race, religion or national origin. However, each local chapter has somewhat different requirements in terms of fees, attendance and participation in community services.
