What are epithelial membranes?

epithelial membranes consist of epithelial tissue and connective tissue. These membranes serve as lining and covering for different body structures and also form glands. There are two primary types of epithelial membranes: serous membranes and mucous membranes. The epithelial tissue has several uses, including material absorption, protection from foreign sources, providing touch of touch, excretion of body fluids and transporting materials between cells.

The structure of epithelial membranes is basic. The upper layer of the epithelial tissue is associated with the base tissue binder with a basement membrane. Therefore, serous membranes are limited and protects the internal organs and organ cavities that contain them. The pleura, which lines the thoracic cavity, is one example of the serous membrane.
