What is the incisor?

Cuts are sharp, teeth similar to women's chisels used for gripping, cutting and gnawing food during chewing. In humans, there are eight cutters teeth on the front of the mouth. Many other animals also have incisors. Central incisors are closest to the middle line of the body, while side incisors are distal or further from the middle line. Maxillary incisors connect to the maxillary or upper jaw. Mandibular central and side incisors are connected to the lower jaw or jaw.

Primary or deciduous incisors grow in the mouth during childhood. These are replaced by secondary or permanent incisors in childhood. Each incisor is attached to the jaw with one, long root in the shape of a cone to the tooth. The front side or out of the tooth is smooth and polished by convex shape. The back or inwards the front side of the tooth, has a concave shape and the upper incisors have a shape in the top of the tooth near the maxillary arch.

There are several different systems for marking teeth in the human jaw. The Universal Notation system, which is commonly used in the United States, indicates deciduous teeth by assigning each of them a capital letter. Permanent teeth are marked by number. The upper deciduous teeth, the patient's right to the left, are marked D, E, F and G. The upper permanent teeth are therefore marked 7, 8, 9 and 10. Lower deciduous teeth from left to right are N, O, P and Q, while permanent teeth are 23, 24, 25 and 26 and 26.

Horses and cats have 12 incisors, while rodents have only four. These teeth differ in rodents because they grow throughout the animal's life and are worn by gnawing. For elephants, the upper incisors developed on curved tusks.
