What is diaphysis?
The diaphysis is a long cylindrical part of the long bone and consists of several different features. Like the outside of any bone, its superficial surface is covered with periosteem. It is a layer of dense, irregular connective tissue with the base layer of cells that develop on osteoblasts. These osteoblasts are responsible for external bone growth, called the growth of apposition. This cortical bone is much denser and stronger than a mushroom bone. The cortical bone plays a major role in the body as a storage place for certain minerals, especially calcium and phosphorus. The body can save or withdraw these minerals as needed. Although other bones also have cortical bone, long bones diaphysis is particularly important because it is so abundant. It is called cavity of marrow. This is full of yellow bone marrow, which consists of adipose tissue. These are the main warehouses of triglycerides or fats in the body and can be divided into metabolic use. In newborns, the medular cavity is used as a source of red bone marrow; It is gradually a currencyThe yellow bone marrow with age. The inner lining of the medular cavity is covered with endosteem, a thin layer of connective tissue.
In the center of the diaphysis are small holes called foramin nutrient. The bone enters arteries, veins and nerve tissue into the medular cavity and the interior of the cortical bone. This is necessary because the bone is not simply made up of minerals. Like anywhere else in the body, a large number of cells live in the bone and require survival of nutrients in the blood. In smaller bones, there is generally only one foramin nutrient, while in larger bone, such as the bone of the femur, there may be several.
The diaphysis is separated from the ends of the bone, called the epiphysis, a layer of bones called metaphysis. In the growing bones, the metaphysis is a layer of cartilage called the epipheseal growth plate. When bones still grow to length - called interstitial growth - this cartilage is constantly converted into bones to become a new part. INBone growth ceases to grow, and the pantry of the epiphysis becomes part of the bone known as the epiphysis line.
In general, it should be noted that diaphysis is part of the bone found only in long bones. Long bones are bones that are much longer than they are wide and act like levers such as femur or humerus. Diafysis usually does not comment with other bones, although there are exceptions such as radius and ulna articulation through the Internlyus membrane of the forearm.
EWISARKOM NG is a type of tumor that often occurs in long bones, especially in femur and humerus. Sometimes, however, can be found in soft tissue. This type of tumor is most often affected by male children and teenagers.
