What is intercondylar eminence?

Intercondylar Eminence is a small part of the bone that protrudes from the top of the tibia in the leg. Found in the knee joint, this bone element protrudes upwards from the upper central surface of the tibia between the middle and side condyles, two large, rounded sections that form the superior or upper end of the bone. The intercondylar eminence sits between the attachment points for the front cross (ACL) and the rear cross (PCL). It is a common place of bone fracture in children and adolescents, often due to a fall from a motorcycle or wheel. Between the end of the femur and the upper part of the tibia, a surface often referred to as a tibial plateau is a liquid filled with a bag called joint capsules. In this capsule there are two menisci, flattened cartilage discs separating bones from much direct contact of each other and several ligaments connecting bones. The most important of these are ACL and PCL, which seem to be x between femur and tibia.

Both crossed ligaments come from the bottom of the thigh bone between its medial and lateral condyle. ACL is formed from a side or outer condyle and from the inside of a fibular notch, which is an indentation between the condyles, while the PCL is connected to the middle or inside the condyle. Although they are surrounded by a knee joint capsule, they are not actually contained in the capsules, but are divided by the synovial membrane of the capsule, giving the capsules the shape of the donut with ligaments passing through the opening in the center.

At the bottom of the joint, the angle of two crossed bonds towards the center of the tibial plateau is inserted from their respective condyles. It is a rough, flattened surface in the center of the upper part of the tibia, which is located towards the back of the bone.

On the contrary, the ACL moves toward the front of the interconCondyr eminence where connecte to the center of the bone. The intercondylary eminence itself forms a protruding bony section between the joint aspects at the top of the condyles, which are simply large shallow depression, where the lateral and medium condyles of the lower thigh bone arise against their respective condyles on the upper bone. The features of eminence include a pair of tubers or projection of the upward direction, which line both side of eminence, which inserts into the fibular notch when the knee is straightened. These tubers can be broken from the bone, usually, when excessive force on the knee joint, as is maintained during the impact of Tibia, tore intercondylar eminence from the tibial plateau.
