What is Longus Colli?
Longus colli is the muscles of the front neck. With the fibers running almost parallel to the spine, it stretches from the Atlas bone just below the skull base to the upper thoracic spine. This muscle is considered three different slices: the above or excellent oblique part, the middle or vertical part and the lower or lower part of the oblique part. Together, these Longus colli segments act to bend or bending the head and neck.
Since this muscle has multiple parts, it has more points of origin and the insertion of the bones to which it connects. The excellent oblique part, which is the highest on the neck, comes from transverse processes or side bone projections C3-C5 in the cervical spine, of which there are seven vertebrae. Her threads run up and inward to attach to the front arch of the atlas, also known as C1. The front arch is the front of the ring that is atlasukost. This part comes from the front surface of the T1-T3 vertebral bodies, the three highest thoracic vertebrae and the C5-C7, on three more bottle cervical vertebrae. Its fibers rise in parallel with the cervical spine to insert along the front surfaces of C2, also known as the axis, via C4.
Longus colli's lower part of the muscle is known as the lower oblique part, whose fibers are angled rather up and outwards and inward as the superior to the sloping part. It comes from the anterior surface T1 and T2 and sometimes T3 and from there it connects higher on the transverse processes C5 and C6 in the cervical spine. Basically, it is identical to the superior oblique part, but inverted, with two portions of meetings in the transverse process C5.
Although it has three different parts, Longus colli acts as a unit that bends the head and neck. This means that it pulls the front of the cervical vertebra forward and down, which in turn pulls the chin down. Longus colli is also muscles that tend to be injured in whip -causing accidents. When a person is suddenly hit from behind, as in the fact that he has a rear end of the car, he is first worthy of ahead, and thenEdge reverse character throws the head back and hyperextends the muscles on the front of the neck, resulting in a whipped cream injury.
