Isochemical series are all metamorphic rocks that have the same or substantially the same chemical composition and are formed under different metamorphic conditions.

The isochemical series refers to all rocks with the same original chemical composition, in which the difference in mineral composition is determined by the type and intensity of metamorphism. Rocks belonging to an isochemical series can have different mineral symbiosis combinations due to different metamorphic conditions. ^[1]

The classification of metamorphic rocks includes the physical series in addition to the chemical series. The isophysical series refers to all rocks formed under the same metamorphic conditions.
