What is an aliminosilicate?
Aliminosilicate is any of the huge number of naturally occurring minerals or compounds produced by a person containing aluminum and silicate, which is made of silicon and oxygen, and possibly other elements, usually from alkaline metal such as sodium or calcium. Many of the naturally occurring aluminums are very common minerals, and although they share the same basic chemical make -up, they may have different physical properties due to the way atoms or molecules are arranged. The same can be said of the physical properties of many synthetic aluminosilicate compounds. Several of these minerals form the basis of many types of clay, especially fine white clay, known as kaolin, and are used in the production of ceramics. Some rock forms of aluminums with this formula are Sillimine and Andalusite. Other naturally there are rock mininerals in this group contain other atoms of other elements, some of which are well known, such as the feldspar and topaz. Hlinosilicate minerals withOlpness is alinosilicates that contain sodium atoms such as Jadeite and Albite. Others may, in addition to aluminum and silicate, contain potassium, calcium, sulfur, lithium or even a combination of two or more of these elements. Some examples of these minerals include plagioclass, Labradorite and Lazurite.
Some of the artificial aluminosilicate compounds are important for industry and have many uses. Sodium aluminosilicate is a common ingredient in certain foods and acts as an anti-caking agent. Other more complicated artificial aluminosilicates will find use in Things, such as detergents. Zeolites are a class of hydrated aluminosilicate minerals, many of which naturally occur. Several zeolite compounds created by man will also find use in industry.
Many crystalline forms of aluminum minerals are rare and semi -precious gems. Topaz, emeralds and other berys, tUrmalines and grenades are all aluminosilicate minerals, although each is complex aluminums containing other elements except aluminum, silicon and oxygen. For example, emeralds and other berys are berylium aluminums. Granet is a type of calcium aluminum.
It is important to realize that many aluminosilicates can share the same chemical formulas, but has very different physical properties. The reason is a number of factors, but is primarily the result of the way the molecules are arranged. This can lead to different crystalline or grid structures, each with slightly different physical properties. Such differences can also occur on the Moleculear level. Two minerals or compounds with the same chemical formulas may have extremely different molecular structures, resulting in divergent physical properties.
