What are S-Video cables?

S-Video is one of the series of video signal methods to various components for transmission from a video tape recorder or playback machine to a TV set or video monitor. This technology was introduced on the JVC market in 1987 as a "separate video" that was rapidly shortened to "S-Video". S-video cables are cables that connect two devices that are equipped with S-Video ability to transmit a signal from one to another. The first video recorders were equipped with coaxial connectors and the coaxial cable was used to transmit video and sound signals to TV. S-Video was one of a series of enhancements when converting the signal from the video tape to the TV and separates the video signal into luma, or luminescence and chroma, or colors.

S-video cables carry four or more wires wrapped in an insulated sleeve, with S-Video connectors at both ends. The most common S-video connector has four pins-one for the Chroma signal, one for luma and two ground wires, one for each signall. The male connector has protruding pins and the woman has corresponding slots. There are several S-Video connectors with more than four pins and S-Video cables that match but are not very common.

S-Video has not become very popular in years after it was developed and introduced, because this technology was only available on a small percentage of all TVs sold. Then, at the age of 90, because more orchards were equipped with S-Video, technology sold it with a digital revolution.

S-Video is an analog technology, and therefore S-video cables are not carried by modern digital and high resolution signals (HD). However, the significant disadvantage of S-Video cables is that they only carry video components of the movie or TV program-there is no sound provision, whether in S-Video or S-Video cables. Therefore, a separate cable for sound signal is required, the main disadvantage in the Spot environmentThe Žetlíci, in which the emphasis is on simplicity and ease of operation.

S-Video connectors and S-Video cables will continue to have presence on the market, because if there are television files capable of displaying an analog video signal, it will be necessary for technology like S-Video to transmit signal from playback to the television file or monitor>
