What is a cell router?

Cellular router is a portable device providing shared Internet access via cellular gate. Standard wireless interface makes it easier to share connections for computers, mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDA) and other network support products. The difference between the cellular router and the traditional router is that the other one gets access to the Internet via cable, telephone or fiber optical lines rather than cell towers. This allows a cellular router to create an internet gateway on the road, for example on a moving train or in an area lacked by a landline or alternative means of access. Most people already enjoy mobile broadband connections to mobile phones with web support. The cell router uses this convenient access and creates a local network (LAN) for all your mobile or portable wireless devices. It can be used as a link to the network of the primary wide area (WAN) or in situations where traditional approach is not available nEbo is not cost effective. It can also provide a backup network if a network failure based on a primary line.

The cellular router must be compatible with the particular carrier you want to use. The routers are sold by carriers and also by third parties. Different models support one or more cellular technologies or protocols such as multiple approach (CDMA/CDMA2000) and global mobile communication systems (GSM). Each of these technologies has its own constantly developing standards, including increased data speeds for GSM (EDGE) evolution known as the third generation of GSM or GSM 3G; and evolutionary data optimized (ev-to) standard CDMA2000 3G. The development of fourth generation (4G) capabilities provides an even faster data speed for both types of standards.

The cellular router may be part of the integrated or modular configuration. Integrated routers have already built -inmodem. Modular routers have USB and ExpressCard® ports to connect a separate modular modum. The modem is what actually communicates with the cell towers, while the router controls traffic on the ropes between the connected devices and between LAN and WAN or local network and the Internet. Most cellular routers have Ethernet ports for optional cable networks. Standard are also built -in firewall gates and the ability to encrypt the operation between the router and its clients or connected devices.

The

cell router can cost anywhere from about $ 75 (USD) to several hundred dollars, but models focused on the average end user are generally below $ 200. Although the cellular broadband connection is extremely convenient, the most expensive type of Internet access remains. Carriers often provide special rates to existing clients with cellular services, but broadband access will be a separate and other monthly fee.
