What is a DVD writer with a dual layer?

The double -layer digital universal disk author (DVD) is a type of electronic entertainment device that can record data into a double -layer DVD, ie a record disk with two physical layers. The second layer allows the drive to maintain almost twice as much data as a DVD with one layer. There are competitive formats for recordable DVDs with a dual layer, but the last DVD writers and units are compatible with all formats.

Although DVDs may look just like the naked eye, there are several different types. The most common standard, known as DVD5, has one layer and one side. This type of disk can hold up to 4.7 gigabytes worth data. Another type, DVD9, is a one -sided double -layer disk that holds up to 8.54 gigabytes of data. DVD5 and DVD9 are used both for commercial disks produced by film studios and recordable disks for home use.

Double -layer media to some extent reminds two single -end DVDs that tilted togethery. DVD with dual layer contains two layers of data on the same Side disk and separate semi -reflective metal layer. To write data in the second layer, a double laser DVD writer with a double layer must have a laser capable of moving his focus on this semi-class metal. This requirement means that the oldest DVD writers lack the ability to record on discs with double layer.

There are two main formats for recordable DVDs: DVD-R and DVD+R. Both disk types are supplied in one layer and double layer varieties. Some first DVD players and writers would accept only one type of format, but newer consumer electronics devices, including DVD players, video games and Blu-ray discs, support both formats. Almost every DVD writer with a dual layer also supports DVD-R and DVD+R writing. There are also standards for rewritable double layer DVD (DVD-RW/DVD+RW), but these diskY have never been produced and can be found difficult to find.

Dual layer DVD Writer is not limited to discs with double layer and most of them can write many media types. In addition to dual and single-layer recordable DVDs, rewritable DVDs (DVD-RW or DVD+RW) are often supported and recordable or overwritten compact discs (CD-R and CD-RW). Manufacturers often include slogans or brands with the words "Multi" or "Super" in them to mark a DVD writer with a double layer compatible with many different formats. Blu-ray disks writers will often support DVD with dual layer.
