What is the Hi8 adapter on VHS?

Hi8 is a type of video tape that was usually used in camcorders. It was a successor to Video8 format and was later replaced by digital8. In the same way, Betamax and Video Home System (VHS) were competing formats, video8 and its successors were an alternative format for VHS-compact (VHS-C). Because of these differences, the direct Hi8 adapter to VHS is impossible. Any such adapter would have to translate real -time data and would encounter other problems due to the digital sound that it allowed with the Hi8. In order to create smaller Casorder, the VHS tapes were miniaturized to create a VHS-C. These tapes were considerably smaller, but used the same magnetic recording material. Due to these similarities it was possible to place the VHS-C tape in the adapter, which could then play in a standard recorder of the cartridge (VCR). Similarity of size and shape between 8 mm cassettes and VHS-C Net tapes means that the Hi8 adapter to VHS can be or has been created.

Betamax's physical design has created a problematic miniaturization of the VHS-C style, which eventually led to an 8mm family of videotape. Where Betamax used 12 mm (0.47in) wide tape media and VHS I VHS-C used 12.7 mm (0.50in), Hi8 used 8 mm (0.31in). Not only was the impossible HI8 adapter to VHS, the difference in the size of the tape caused that 8 mm tapes did not pay in Betamax decks that used similar technology.

Although there is no HI8 adapter to VHS, you can still transfer video from 8 mm cassettes to other formats. The easiest way to overcome the lack of Hi8 adapter to VHS is the use of audio and video recordings found on most 8mm camcorders. By connecting a video to the 8mm video camera to video-in ports on the video recorder, it is usually possible to store a copy of the Hi8 recordings F or later play on VHS cassettes.

In the absence of Hi8 work coating, there may be other options. Digital8 players that are usually KO can be availableMpatible with Hi8 and Video8. For digital 8 video, you can use a video recording for video 8 K VHS or other formats such as a digital versatile DVD (DVD). It may also be possible to use a computer to capture and coded Hi8 video for digital storage.
