What Is a Wireless Home Alarm System?

The design and installation of an alarm system usually requires wiring from the control board to all detectors and alarms. This often takes a lot of time, brings unavoidable interference to the daily lives of the residents, and may cause damage to the building structure. The wireless alarm system provides an effective solution.

Wireless alarm system

In the past ten years, thanks to the advancement of the mobile phone market, wireless circuits and battery power storage capabilities have improved significantly, which has also greatly expanded the scope of wireless applications. Wireless detectors are one example. Early systems were expensive, alarms still required electrical wiring, and these systems were only suitable for expert applications. Now, almost every component that can be connected to a wired system has a corresponding wireless accessory.
A comprehensive wireless survey of the building must be performed before installation begins. For each expected position of the detector, measure the strength of the wireless signal from the local control station. Make sure the signal strength is correct so that the system can run stably. The hearing distance of the device depends on the structure of the building. For example, reinforced concrete has a stronger reduction in hearing distance than decorative partitions. The listening distance of 30-50 meters in the building is best obtained. The range of listening distance in free space can be extended to 200 meters. The clever antenna design can increase the listening distance, but in general, the larger the antenna, the larger the listening distance. If the required signal strength cannot be received between the two devices, then auxiliary control seats must be installed at key points. The auxiliary control base receives signals from the device and processes them into information, and if necessary, transmits data to the main base. If necessary, the signal can also be transmitted through other auxiliary control stations. A properly designed system should ensure that all devices have sufficient signal strength to transmit to at least one control base, and that all plates have communication channels back to the control base. After the survey is completed, the system installation is extremely convenient and fast. A control base requires three fixing screws, a mains supply, a 12-volt battery and a set of switches. If you need other special features, you can design with the front keyboard or personal computer. Each detector and alarm requires its own unit number programming, and its base should be fixed to the wall with two screws. Then you can use the power supply. This allows the device to be tested for radio waves transmitted to the console. It can be seen that the various devices can be installed in a few minutes. For example, a system with four hundred detectors and alarms can be completed by three engineers in one week. Provided the radio wave range meets the requirements, additional equipment can be installed in the wireless system with little inconvenience to customers. This process is much more complicated in wired systems.
In the past, the market for wireless alarm systems was mainly those of old buildings, their decorative zeniths and thick stone walls made it difficult to lay wires. However, with the reduction of the price of electronic components, automatic assembly is becoming more and more cost-effective, the price of wireless systems has dropped significantly, and the price of wireless systems has become competitive with the corresponding wired products. With its fast installation and no interference, the wireless detection system is suitable for many occasions, from restaurants to concert halls. Another application is to protect buildings under construction or renovation. This temporary system ensures the safety of the building when permanent wired detectors are not installed. Wireless systems can even be installed without the main wires running. Once the building is completed, the wireless alarm system can be easily moved to other parts of the building or other buildings.
