Mini DisplayPort is not the first miniaturized display interface. This was preceded by mini-dvi and micro-DVI. DVI means a digital visualThe interface, the standard for digital displays introduced in 1999 and used, for example, on many flat panel monitors. DVI supports the protection of digital content with high bandwidth (HDCP), a means of promoting DRM (digital rights management) by encrypting the content, for example, between a computer and a display on which it would be played. Mini DisplayPort continues to use HDCP in addition to support protection of the display content (DPCP), the Optional DRM DisplayPort system.
