What Is Mini DisplayPort?
Mini DisplayPort is a miniature version of DisplayPort. Posted by Apple on October 14, 2008. Now used in MacBook (replaces the previous Mini-DVI), MacBook Air (replaces the previous Micro-DVI) and MacBook Pro (replaces the previous DVI) notebook computers. - Since February 2011, Apple s newly released Thunderbolt interface is also compatible with DisplayPort 1.1 devices directly connected to the Thunderbolt interface for video data output. The Thunderbolt interface is downward compatible with Mini DisplayPort, and the physical structure and pin design of the two are exactly the same. But DisplayPort 1.1 devices must be connected at the end of the Thunderbolt link.
