"Big Ticket" is an American slang for those goods that are usually of high value and can be considered luxury goods. People who follow economic trends in the retail market sometimes call them Btis. For example, an economist could realize in an economically depressed period that the sale of luxury items is declining. At a time when the economy is stable or growing, you may notice larger sales totals for large ticket items.

Managers can emphasize the importance of selling a large ticket item when they can, because it tends to maximize profits.
In the Motor Show, the difference between a simple car and a large item of tickets can mean those cars that are more expensive models and have more adapted features. Some people could look at all new cars and consider a big ticket, but in most cases Hyundai® will be much smaller than the brand new Jaguar®.
