What is a case competition?

The case competition is an activity in which teams would compete with each other to solve a case study mainly related to business and financing. These competitions are usually designed to withstand shorter duration, from one to three days. This gives participants a greater challenge and motivation to come up with an ideal solution in a short period of time. In some competitions, contestants are asked to study this case and solve a problem in one day.

Teams of four to five competitors, along with a coach or mentor, are sent as representatives of the university or corporation. After preparations and briefing, the host gives each team the same case study to be viewed within the time limit. After a specific time, teams will receive more time to determine the main concerns in the case study and create solutions for problems.

In the Competition Planning phase, teams can be given one workplace for maximizing their brainstorming. In a stricter environment, the host may disable the use of mobile phones, Internet access or other tools,to prevent the team from getting out of external assistance. However, other machines such as computers and printers can be provided.

After adopting the solution and plans, the teams are also entrusted to provide the jury's final presentation. These judges, if translated into the business environment, can be considered as the Board of Directors, which will issue a final word on this matter. Presentations can be visual, auditory or both. Once all presentations are completed, the judges will receive the time to decide on the winning team. Prices and prices can be awarded in financial or non -financial forms.
