What Is Office Landscape?
Open-plan offices, sometimes called landscape offices, appeared in Germany in the 1960s (Brookes, 1972; Zanarelli, 1969). It is an open work area built by the husband and wife. There is no partition wall from the ground to the ceiling, and one floor is a large office. Desks, work spaces, low removable partitions, etc. reflect the streamlined work style and the organization of a particular office. The purpose of the design is to improve work efficiency and strengthen the links between relevant staff; and to provide staff with flexibility and freedom. Although more research is needed to evaluate the performance of open offices, some preliminary evaluations are available for our reference. [1]
