What does a computer animator do?
An animator is someone who creates a feeling of continuous change or progressive movement with beginning static images or models. For example, an animator can work with drawings, as the original Disney cartoon artists did, or with the animation of clay, as in the films Wallace and Gromit ®. The computer animator creates digital animations using computer software.
There are several fields in which a computer animator can work. The video game branch is one and most games use not only one, but the whole team of animators. However, film and television production is an area in which most computer animators are employed. Even live action movies may include 3D rendering and capturing movement. Advertisers also employ computer animators because animations have become an increasingly important part of some advertising campaigns for television and the Internet, including, for example, talking geckos.
A computer animator, sometimes called the CGI animator, uses a combination of computer modeling and CObour mpunter to create the appearance of movement for 2D and 3D graphics. The field is undergoing constant development, so a computer animator must keep up with the constantly changing technology and software. It is true whether the computer animator is taught or completed by the academic program.
There are a number of software programs that a computer animator is likely to work with. Examples include Lightwave® 3D, Autodesk® Maya, Autodesk® Softimage and AutDodesk® 3DS Max. Proprietary software is also often used.
Because computer animation is often part of a comprehensive team effort, there are other skills in addition to technical fitness that will serve well for a computer animator. In addition to drawing, a witty computer and technical knowledge, all the skills that help people work as a team, especially in the middle of a strict production plan. Because computer animAtion is constantly shifting limits, both creative thinking and the ability to work well under pressure when things do not go so well, for the first time are important.
Computer animators can have specialties in the field. For example, a computer animator can specialize in textures or lighting. Other specialties include modeling, composition, character animations and general animation.
