What is the equipment technician doing?

Equipment techniques, also known as a maintenance technician, are responsible for maintenance and repair of the building, building complex or other similar facilities, as well as any related equipment, assets, machines or systems that can be part of this device. Training for this position can be available at a community university or other training facilities such as a vocational school or technical university. One of the primary obligations of the equipment technician serves as a primary contact for any external staff, supplier or suppliers who provide services for any part of the equipment. The ability to solve mechanical equipment and understand preventive maintenance procedures along with some experience in related technical areas is also important for those who serve as equipment technicians.

Although some employers may require the equipment technician to have the title of project management or facility managementOr a technical school can also provide sufficient training for this work. Some equipment technicians have a high school diploma and have completed training in formal apprenticeships. Most of them developed their skills and capabilities related to the management of equipment, supplier relations and maintenance for many years of experience in the workplace. Most technicians have an understanding of repair processes and basic knowledge of mechanical processes associated with specific types of equipment. For this work, it is necessary to read and understand the plan and other schemes or technical diagrams.

The

equipment technicians must coordinate with sellers, service providers and other employees working on many systems that are part of any building or facility. Some of these systems include heating, air conditioning, plumbers, electric and fire safety systems. Maintenance technician must serveAs intercourse between these service providers and official inspectors for the local and state government, which ensure that all these systems work correctly and within the prescribed security parameters. As a primary contact with all external service providers and contracts, the equipment technician must have the ability to communicate and cooperate with many different types of service providers and suppliers. A fundamental part of this work is also monitoring and checking the actual work completed by these service providers.

Preventive maintenance, problem solving and repair are a big part of this work. Some equipment techniques may also have other experiences in other areas such as electric, plumbing or heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). The equipment technician can also be familiar with the installation of different types of equipment. Many duties of maintenance technician can be physically demanding and require the transfer of heavy objects, access to ladders to achieve equipment and for a longer period of time workingin small cramped areas.
