What is a cardiograph?

Cardiograph is a name for several different types of mechanical devices that are used to monitor the activity and health of the human heart. While different cardiograph models use slightly different ways to analyze the heart condition, all are useful to detect problems and help identify solutions that save many lives every year. Here are some examples of different types of cardiographs and how they work.

Almost every form of cardiograph works by monitoring and recording the heart movements. This may include recording the mechanical force of contractions in the heart muscles, with great attention to any irregularity when opening and closing various chambers of the heart. Others may be more interested in blood flow through the chambers, with an emphasis on any blockages that seem to be a disturbing blood flow.
