What are androgens?

androgens are hormones that control the development and function of masculine tissues and characteristics. This term may apply to both natural and synthetic androgen hormones. There are several different types of androgens, the most important of which is testosterone. Each androgen controls one or more aspects of masculine development or function. Note that while androgen hormones are defined as a control of "male" characteristics, these hormones are present and active in both women and men.

One of the first aspects of androgens -controlled hormones is the growth of gons of developing fetus. At about four weeks, Gonady of the human fetus began to evolve and can become ovaries or testicles. In the presence of androgenic hormones, gonads are caused to evolve into the testicles. Once Gonady distinguishes the testicles, androgens themselves begin to produce themselves. As these hormones become active on the developing fetus, they check the penis, scrotum and other structures of the male reproductive system.

anDrugens play a major role in the development during puberty, promoting sperm production and the final phase of the maturity of the genital organs. The function of androgenic hormones in sperm production continues throughout adulthood. These hormones also inhibit excess fat storage and promote muscle tissue storage. As a result, men tend to have less body fat and more muscle than women.

In addition to regulating the development of physical masculine characteristics, it is assumed that androgenic hormones play a role in psychological qualities. For example, it has been proposed that aggression and libido are associated with androgens levels. Male hormones themselves do not check psychological properties such as these; Rather, the answer lies in the much more complex interplay between female and male hormones and other factors.

androgen hormones produced in the testicles are strongly involved in prostate cancer and proven that belowThey break the growth of prostate cancer cells. For this reason, androgen therapy, which is used to reduce androgen levels and reduce the rate of prostate tumors, is a common treatment for prostate cancer. This treatment cannot cure cancer but may slow its progression.

In other situations, androgen therapy therapy can also be used to treat women. Many women have symptoms such as fatigue, low libido, reduced comfort, reduced motivation and other symptoms that can mean reduced androgen levels. The use of prescribed androgens as a means of therapy can help reduce the severity of these symptoms.
