Coronary artery occlusion is an abnormal substance that does not dissolve in the blood (emboli) that occurs in the blood circulation. When the heart coronary artery is blocked with blood flow, it causes coronary artery embolism. The most common emboli are exfoliated thrombus, such as the loss of mural thrombus after rheumatic heart disease and myocardial infarction. It can also be caused by shedding of coronary atherosclerotic plaques and shedding of acute endocarditis.
