What is the auditory test?
Hearing test is carried out a procedure for determining the person's ability to assess how well they can detect certain frequencies. The test is trying to determine the lowest tone that the person hears. The test may also include a speech component to ensure that the results are accurate. It is performed by an audiologist who is a trained doctor. It can be asked to wear a set of headphones. Inside the booth, a series of sound is played and the person is asked to push the button or raise her hand to indicate that they heard the sound. Sounds are played on a number of different decibels and audiologists monitor which person can hear using a graph. After completing the hearing test, an audiologist will be able to find out which frequency has difficulty in hearing and diagnose the extent of hearing loss if existed.
The part of the hearing test includes the person to listen to the words and repeat them back to the audiologist. This helps to clarify any inaccuracies in the test process because the person examined may be stressed to hear on certain frequencies and suggests that I hear I inviteK when they were not able to do so. The speech test can also indicate whether the sounds issued by a combination of specific letters are difficult to hear for a person.
The audiologist will also want to perform a physical examination of the ears structure to determine whether it is normal as part of the hearing test. The probe is placed in the ear to measure the amount of air pressure in the ear canal. The abnormal air pressure level may indicate a problem with the structure or functioning of the ear drum.
The accumulation of the fluid in the ear canal can also contribute to hearing problems. The audiologist will explore the ear to ensure that the fluid is not present during the hearing test process. Antibiotics may be required to treat fluid in the inner ear.
Hearing test results will either confirm that a person has a normal hearing range or indicates a certain level of hearing loss. Information obtained from mapping of different frequencies can be used to offer a suitable treatment of loss, such as auditory aids.
