What is a penile curvature?
Penile curvature, also called Peyronie's disease, is a condition in which the male erect penis curves abnormally. Symptoms of penis curvature include pain during erection and functional problems. Scientists are not 100 % sure what causes the condition, but trauma on the penis or some health conditions can play a role. In some cases, one can even be born with a penis that is crooked. Fortunately, there are medical and surgical treatments that may prove useful for the man who has a penis curvature.
When a person has a penis curvature, a number of symptoms can experience. The most common symptom of this condition is the curve in the upright penis, which can be seen with the naked eye. This condition can also cause the penis to become visibly narrower when it is upright. In addition, a man with this condition usually has a hard, reinforced tissue in the penis. Although this is not a symptom for the man who has a curvature of the penis, this can cause the man's partner to experience pain runninghem of sexual intercourse.
The scars tissue is formed under the penile skin when a person has a curvature of a penis, probably because of some type of trauma. The scar tissue typical for this condition causes the penis to bend and often make pain. Sometimes the curvature seems to be related to the trauma of the penis, but these are not always cases. In fact, some men were born with a curvature of a penis called hypospadias rather than Peyronie's disease.
A condition called Dupuytrene contracture is sometimes associated with the curvature of the penis. This condition is characterized by reinforcement on the palm of the person who bends the last two fingers on the hand towards the palm. A small percentage of men with this condition is also diagnosed with the curvature of the penis.
There are medicines that can be used in the treatment of penis curvature. For example, a doctor may injure a man's penis with a corticosteroid that is a steroid hormone, in an effort to heal it. Sometimes medicines with high blood pressure, collected by mouth or injections can help; In some cases, doctors may even treat shock wave or radiation therapy. If medical treatment fails, one can opt for surgery. However, there is a chance that this type of surgery could cause the patient of the penis to curl.
