What is the resting ECG?

Electrocardiogram (ECG or ECG) is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart and the resting ECG is served when the patient is at rest. It includes non -invasive recording with adhesive skin electrodes located on specially prepared skin spots and interprets heart activity on the graph. It is used to determine the health of the heart and circulatory system and to diagnose problems with associated body systems.

In order to make a resting ECG, an electrocardiographic technician applies up to 12 adhesive electrodes on the skin at specific places, mostly on the left side of the chest and also on which and roots. Usually these electrodes are self -adhesive or applied with conductive glue. The places used are usually shaved, cleanse abrasive cream or both to reduce interference or impedance between the skin and electrodes. After the patient is prepared and the skin electrodes are introduced, the last test for less than a minute and is completely painless and non -invasive.

resting ECG patient is interesting because tecHik and involved doctors can see what is natural, "default" electrical activity. The ECG itself consists of lines on the graph showing time intervals. At ideally regular intervals, the ridges of the ridges to the summit and then fall below the starting point of the line or on the baseline to the trough. The peaks and troughs can also occur backwards.

The dimensions and regularity or irregularity of these lines communicate the nature of the patient's heart activity. A person's personal ECG can prove a recent heart attack, a lack of oxygen in the heart, coronary ischemia, the effects of some drugs and certain genetic disorders. After resting ECG, it is likely to be required in the case of a seizure, difficulty breathing or fainting; If the patient observed an unusual heart rhythm; or to find out whether he has a recent heart attack or other heart event.

resting ECG is not the only test using the basic Electrocardi settingsOwl. In case of damage to coronary arteries, doctors could apply for ECG exercises in which the electrodes are located as normal, but the patient practices on a treadmill or stationary bike during the test. This is also referred to as a heart stress test and can be used to determine the amount of work that the heart of the patient can take by recording the heart reaction and related systems for strenuous physical efforts.
