What is alcoholics anonymous?

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an organization devoted to helping people end up addiction to alcohol. The organization is freely structured, and although there is a group of overhead costs that focus on things like press literature, there are more than 100,000 groups that operate according to the instructions of AA directors. These groups provide about half of the gifts to the main organization and keep the other half the payment of things such as renting rooms and basic needs of the group. People attending meetings are devoted to what they can at every meeting but are not obliged to donate unless they have funds. One of the participants of the Oxford Group was Bill Wilson, who suffered from alcoholism. He thought that the directors of the Oxford Group, especially the idea that God could achieve what people could not, helped him stop drinking. In 1935, Dr. Bobsmith and Wilson founded a group of meetings specific to the needs of alcoholics who want to recover, and a few years later Wilson wrote alcoholics anonymous-shell KNIhu , a book that helped to define steps to recover from addiction.

The big book introduced a twelve step program that people who wish to drink would work out to get freedom to continue drinking. These steps include admitting the problem, reducing the problem to force majeure (not necessarily Christian God), creating a moral inventory of character defects and changing people that one injured. The key to the remaining sober was that people had spiritual awakening at the end of these steps that allowed them to help other alcoholics and continue using steps in everyday life. Bill Wilson felt that the reason he was able to resist drinking was this spiritual awakening, as he experienced in the Oxford group, and the steps in AA are to achieve this awakening.

Despite emphasis on higher power or God in anonymous Literature of Alcoholics there are many groups that obviously resisteats a Christian or Judaic approach. Instead, the higher power can be defined as anything you want. While many meetings are close to prayers like "our father", some groups simply end their hands and skip prayers. There are still many focus on the idea of higher changes in people's lives, and some people can resist this concept if they are specifically anti-religious or atheistic.

When people enter anonymous alcohol, they must find a sponsor. In addition to regular participation in meetings, people will encounter their sponsor to help discuss and elaborate steps. These sponsors are people who have successfully worked twelve steps. These steps were used for other programs, such as narcotikums anonymous and for some they have proven for some at the end of addiction.

Alcoholics Anonymous is the most successful in that he is able to end drinking when he regularly participates in meetings. According to AA surveys, a relatively high rate of over the first months occursDMETU. When people stay in the program for one year or more, they are often able to maintain sobriety. At present, AA has nearly two million members and operates meetings in many places around the world.
