What Is Aluminum Fluoride?
Aluminum fluoride, chemical formula AlF, colorless or white crystal. Insoluble in water, insoluble in acid and alkali. Very stable in nature, it can hydrolyze when heated. Mainly used for aluminum smelting. It can be made by the action of aluminum trichloride with hydrofluoric acid and ammonia.

- Note: AF-0 and AF-1 are anhydrous aluminum fluoride standards AF-2 and AF-3 are wet aluminum fluoride standards
- Mainly used in aluminum smelting to reduce melting point and increase
- Pure aluminum fluoride can be obtained by the action of aluminum trichloride with hydrofluoric acid and ammonia to obtain ammonium hexafluoroaluminate, which can be decomposed by heating. [5]
