What is the adrenal cyst?
The adrenal cyst is a growth that appears in the adrenal. It is very rare and affects only one or two people for 10,000. Most of the adrenal cysts are found randomly or by chance when the patient is examined for other problems. Most people who are diagnosed with adrenal cysts are women, and although the adrenal cyst may occur at any age, most of them are found in patients aged 30 to 60 years. The adrenal gland excludes hormones that help regulate blood pressure, heart rate and sweating. Other adrenal hormones include corticosteroids that play a role in regulating salt levels in the body and testosterone. They are regulated by a part of the brain called the hypothalamus.
There are four types of adrenal glands. Most of the adrenal glands are known as endothelial cysts that are benign and usually do not cause any symptoms and are similar to less common epithelial cysts. Approximately 40% of the adrenal glands are considered to be pseudocysts, and these can become malignant. Fourth type overlEdvin is a parasitic cyst. This rare cyst is caused by larvae from the type echinococcus granulosus.
Benign cyst of the adrenaline usually does not cause any symptoms, although if it increases, it can cause pain in the abdomen or back. Most adrenal cysts are located when other tests are carried out, such as X-rays or computer tomography (CT)-they would not be detected. Symptomatic adrenal cyst can affect hormone, blood pressure and heart rate.
treatment for the adrenal cyst usually consists in alert waiting, with regular tests such as CT scanning and blood tests performed to observe the formula of growth and hormonal changes. The second option is surgical removal, which can be performed by laparoscopically, or through small cuts using a long, thin tool equipped with a small camera. Normally no surgery is required unless the cyst affectshormonal balance of the body or does not cause pain due to its size.
Most people with the adrenal cyst do not realize that one has one if it is not visible when testing other health problems. Because most cysts do not cause any physical symptoms, a conservative approach to treatment is adhered to. The cause of the adrenal gland cyst is not yet known, although it is believed that the inheritance plays a role.
