What is cerebritis?

Cerebritis is an inflammation of the cerebrum, a brain structure that performs many important functions, including most things that people associate with being man such as memory and speech. People who have a brain can experience symptoms such as minor speech, confusion, nausea and dizziness. Disorders of visual changes, mood changes and memory problems are also common symptoms. Cerebrum inflammation requires treatment because this may result in brain damage, which could lead to patient damage.

Causes

This condition may be the result of infection caused by bacteria, viruses or other organisms. Infections may occur when infectious substances enter the brain of the cavity or as a result of trauma. Some pathogens are also able to pass through the blood -brain barrier and enter the brain through the bloodstream, although the body has developed a defense that is specially designed to prevent it.

Another cause of cerebritis is lupus in which the immune system of the body goes hay and begins to attack the body. Many patients with lupus develop vasculitis, inflammation of the blood vessels that may occur in the brain. Sometimes other autoimmune disorders can also lead to the brain. This condition is a recognized risk to people who have lupus, and for those who develop neurological symptoms, it is usually recommended that they are looking for rapid treatment so that medical intervention can occur in time.

Effects

At the beginning of cerebritis usually involves clogging of blood vessels and swelling of brain tissues. If the inflammation is allowed to persist, necrosis may begin because parts of the brain are cut off from the blood supply. In the case of infection, abscess may develop and infection may spread to brain areas that were not originally affected bycerebritis.

Treatment

neurologist may evaluate a patient who has suspicious symptoms and orders medical imaging studies of the head to see if they provide insight into what could STAt inside the brain. If the study detects cerebritis, the doctor may prescribe treatment based on the cause and medical history of the patient. In infections, it is necessary to kill organisms causing infection. When inflammation is present, steroids can be used to reduce swelling. If the swelling seems to have increased to a dangerous level, surgery may be necessary to relieve the pressure of the brain. The formation of abscess also requires surgery because it will be necessary to drain the abscess.
