What is entropion?

Entropion is an eye condition in which the edge of the eyelid rolls into the eye. It usually causes pain and discomfort, because the eyelashes are dragged over the fine surface of the eye when the lid rolls. This condition is very easy to heal and it is good to heal soon to prevent permanent damage to the eye. The ophthalmologist can diagnose entropion very quickly in the patient and provide temporary relief, such as lubricating drops that can be used until the patient can come to the surgery to repair the lid.

Sometimes entropion is the result of an infection or trauma to the eye. In other cases, people are born with this condition. Some patients have eye eyelids that are permanently changing, while others may have lids in a normal position for most of the time, while the eyelids are returning when sneezing, wipe their eyes or shake their heads. People can experience itching, pain and redness in the eyes and normally produce a lot of tears and begin to develop problems with vision over time. Sometimes the cornea is infected due to irritation. In infants with entropionThe lashes are usually soft enough to cause no large irritation, but the child's eyes may seem slightly irritated or tears.

Entropion treatment is surgery. In the surgery, the doctor slightly changes the structure of the eyelid to pull the lid back and keep it in place. The healing time is usually relatively fast and relief from irritation is immediate, as the eyelashes do not overlap with each blink over the cornea. The physician may prescribe antibiotics or anti -inflammatory drugs due to surgery to treat infection or irritation and help the eye.

Entropion eye eyelids are also very common in dogs. Many og DPlemens are quite susceptible to this. Domestic animals can identify the condition by looking for signs of pain and irritation, including redness, tearing and thick mucus around the eyes. Because dogs cannot talk to reporting of vision problems, it is important to be attentive to zI consider the behavior or sign that the dog has problems with vision. The veterinary surgeon can explore the dog to confirm the diagnosis and perform a quick operation to repair the inverted lid and restore the comfort and vision of the dog.
