What is esotropy?

Esotropy is a health condition that affects the eyes. When a person has esotropy, his eyes turn in, so he seems to be crossed by his eyes. This disorder can only affect one eye or can affect both simultaneously. Esotropy is rarely diagnosed and treatment methods include surgery, correction lens and visual therapy.

There are different types of esotropy. One type is called congenital esotropy and occurs in children from birth to six months of age. Interestingly, most children are born through their eyes that are not absolutely straight; During an early life, it is common to have one or both eyes that have shown slightly, but it is repaired until the child reaches three months of age. Sometimes it seems that the child's eyes simply change in, but are not really balanced; This is because the nasal bridge develops slowly, causing some white eyes to look hidden and give the child a slightly crossed eyes. In the right cases of congenital esotropuia, the eyes are distinctive and the misalignment will be manifestedwhen a child is between two and four months old.

Infantile esotropy is another congenital form of disorder. It is present at birth or may occur later during the first year of the child's life. The condition occurs because part of the brain that affects eye control does not develop exactly as it should. When a person has this condition, the brain does not have to process visual input from this particular eye. Children with this condition can also have a cross fixation, which means they see things on the left side with the right eye and use the right eye to view things on the left side.

Ascomotic esotropy is a form of disorder that often occurs when a child is about two and results when eyes try to concentrate things and clearly see things. It is often accompanied by foresight, which is necessary to make more effort to see things well. Efforts that Eyes spend focusing is referred to as accommodation and eyes must be moreE work on accommodation for objects that are closer to the eyes. When they spend this effort, their eyes can cross. Sometimes part of the turn is inward for accommodation, while the rest is caused by the disorder itself.
