What Is a Web Cache?
Web caching (or HTTP caching ) is an information technology used to temporarily store (cache) Web documents (such as HTML pages and images) to reduce server latency. The web cache system saves a copy of the documents that pass through this system; if certain conditions are met, subsequent requests can be satisfied by the cache. Web cache systems can refer to either devices or computer programs.
- Web cache can be used in various systems (from the perspective of the transmission direction of Web content):
- In 1998, the DMCA increased the provisions of the United States Code and waived the copyright responsibility of system operators for caching purposes. [1]
