What is HDMI® cable?
The
High -resolution multimedia interface (HDMI®) is a connection system used with digital sound and video. The HDMI® cable is a specially designed cable capable of carrying uncompressed digital video and sound simultaneously. The HDMI® cable is used to connect digital input sources to digital TVs, receivers and computer monitors.
to display high-resolution video, Blu-ray ™ and eight digital sound channels, HDMI® compatible TV, source and cable. The HDMI® cable is a replacement for two analog cables, video and sound. HDMI® cable supports any TV or PC video format, from standard to high resolution.
The first HDMI® product was developed in 2002 to meet the requirements of better digital sound and visual system. The HDMI® specifications were accepted by a wide range of computer, television and electronic manufacturers. These standards have been developed by the Association of Electronic Electronic Production, in cooperation with the main film and music distributionby the corporations.
There are two different types of HDMI® cables, categories one and two. Different categories apply only to HDMI® versions 1.3 and higher, which were available in October 2008. These cables are also backward compatible with earlier HDMI® versions.
Category One Cables HDMI® is marked as a standard HDMI® cable and are ideal for audio transmission and 720p or 1080i video signals. HDMI® Category two are also called HDMI® high -speed cable and are able to transmit 720p, 1080i and 1600p video signals. Only category two cables are guaranteed to be carried out with a cable length greater than 16 feet (4.8 meters).
When selecting the HDMI® cable, the length of the cable is an important consideration. Due to signal attenuation, the HDMI® length limit is a limit before affecting power. If the cable is too long, the digital signal is too weak and the images on the screen flash.
Problems surrounding the loss of signal due to excessive cable length can be solved by extenders, repeaters or HDMI®. All these devices can be used to connect HDMI® cables together. When using these connecting devices, the length of the cable can be extended without any loss of signal force.
Maximum possible length depends on the category of used cable. Categories five and six cables are able to extend the total cable length of up to 164 feet (50 meters). If the HDMI® extension is used on the basis of optical fibers, the total cable length may increase to 328 feet (100 meters).
