What are the different types of automated transport systems?

There are many types of automated transport systems, as the packaging and material handling sectors deal with a number of different objects and substances. Traffic strips are one of the most common categories of automated transport systems because they are used to transport free materials, boxes, pallets and many other items depending on the type of belt. Another wide category includes vibration and gravitational conveyors that are units that have fewer moving parts, and are particularly useful to transport materials down. Pneumatic systems are very suitable for moving free substances and can be used to transport materials either vertically or horizontally.

Automated transport systems are widely used in the materials branch, although they are also found in many other commercial and industrial environments. These devices fit into many different categories and are able to move different materials, although all shje several common characteristics. The main characteristics that all these systems share is that they are designed to automatically transport an object or substance from one place to another.

One of the most used types of automated transport system is the transport belt. These units may have football boots, buckets or other attachments to have free substances and small objects. If the belt is bowed in the middle, this can also allow this type of automated transport system to carry free substances. Traffic strips can run in a straight line, turn corners, move up or down, and some even use telescopic extensions. Similar automated transport systems use chains and slats that can be useful in spiral samples that allow vertical movement.

Other categories of automated transport systems consist of devices such as vibrating and gravitational conveyors. Vibrating conveyorsusually consists of an inclined flat surface that moves very quickly back and forth. Any material that is set to the conveyor will tend to move on the slope due to vibrations. Gravitational conveyors are similar, except that they rely solely on gravitational force to withdraw the materials down.

pneumatic conveyors are another type of automated transport system that can be used to move free or solid materials. These systems use closed tubes and air pressure or vacuum. Pressure or vacuum causes something located inside the tube system to move from one place to another, so these systems are useful for both vertical and horizontal movement. In most cases, this type of automated transport system will also result in less dust than the traditional transport belt when moving powder substances.
