What Are the Industrial Uses of Phosphor Bronze?
P is used to remove oxygen from pure copper and bronze (Cu-Sn), leaving a small amount of P, and to add 1% P Cu alloy to improve mechanical properties (toughness, elasticity, wear resistance, corrosion resistance). Mainly used as wear-resistant parts and elastic components. Computer connectors, mobile phone connectors, high-tech industry connectors, electrical and electronic springs, switches, slots for electronic products, buttons, electrical connectors, lead frames, vibration plates and terminals, etc.
- A bronze with tin and phosphorus as the main alloying elements. Contains 2 to 8% tin, 0.1 to 0.4% phosphorus, and the balance is copper. It is mainly used as wear-resistant parts and elastic elements in industry. Plates and strips are used for springs, switches, lead frames, connectors, vibration plates, diaphragms, fuse clips, bushings, etc. for electronic and electrical devices, especially for springs that require high-performance elasticity. Castings are used for gears, worm gears, bearings, bushings, sleeves, blades, and other general mechanical parts. [1]
- This alloy has alloys for forging and casting. The Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) has phosphor bronze plates and strips C5111P, R, 5102P, R, 5191P, R, 5212P, R; phosphor bronze plates and strips for springs C5210P, R (P (Plate, R: bar); phosphor bronze castings PBC2, 2B, 2C, 3B, 3C (the following mark B: die casting, C: continuous casting, no mark: sand casting).
- Phosphor bronze composition:
- (1) C5111: 3.5% to 4.5% Sn, 0.03% to 0.35% P,> 99.5% (Cu + Sn + P).
- (2) C5102: 4.5% to 5.5% Sn, 0.03% to 0.35% P,> 99.5% (Cu + Sn + P). (3) PBC2: 87.0% to 91.0% Cu, 9.0% to 12.0% S, 0.05% to 0.20% P (2B: 0.15% to 0.50% P; 2C: 0.05% to 0.50% P), <1.0% impurities.
- Phosphor bronze has higher corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and no sparks during impact. For medium speed and heavy load bearings, the maximum working temperature is 250 . With automatic self-aligning, it is not sensitive to deflection, the bearing bears high uniform bearing capacity, can bear radial load at the same time, and self-lubricating without maintenance. Tin phosphor bronze is an alloy copper with good electrical conductivity, not easy to generate heat, ensuring safety, and strong fatigue resistance. The tin-phosphor bronze jack reed has hard-wired electrical structure and no rivet connection or friction contact, which can ensure good contact, good elasticity, and stable insertion. The alloy has excellent machining performance and chip formation performance, and can quickly shorten the processing time of parts. The harmonica also uses phosphor bronze as the gong material. [2]
