What is the cathode?

Cathode is an electrode through which the electrical current leaves the polarized electrical equipment. Its opposite is the anode through which the electrical current enters the electrical equipment. Positively charged ions, called cations, move towards the cathode, while negatively charged ions, called anions, move towards the anode.
