What is a container crane?

The container crane is a very large lifting device used to lift the shipping containers. These cranes can be used to load or unload containers from the ship or simply move them around the port or yard. Container cranes serve as a type of portal crane, a form of a crane with a jack that travels along the upper beam. Compared to smaller building cranes, the crane is generally stationary or fixed in one permanent place. These machines are extremely large and strong and usually require extensive training and care to ensure safely operated.

Depending on where it will be used, the container crane can contain several designs and profiles. Units full of scary are a canal or water formation and a vessel for lifting when the ship is located below. Units with half agencies are much more common and spread over the edge of the water in a deep port or harbor. High -profile units have a suspended arm that can lift the containery up and over the boat and on the shoe. Low-profile units are swinging to move these containers without lifting them to extreme heights.

6 Heading travels back and forth along the beam as needed to access containers in different parts of the ship or yard. From the jack, the spreading device hangs using steel cables. These spreaders have crochet mechanisms that lock in every corner of the container to keep it safely as it moves. Many containers include integral corner castings or cut -outs designed to accept hooks on a standard spreader.

The

container crane can rely on several operating systems to provide the strength and strength needed to lift these containers. Some use a hydraulic lifting mechanism, while others use an electric or hybrid engine. Each crane can rely on a diesel generator or electricity from the drop to supply energy to Motoru.

The operator operator sits in a special operating cabin located above the lifting. This cabin can usually travel along the length of the beam so that the operator can easily place the spreader and raise or lower containers. Many regions require these operators to undergo training and certification to ensure that they are able to run a crane. This teaches the operator not only how to control the crane to maximize safety, but also how to see the crane for defects before each use.
