What is the recuperator?
The recoverator is a device used to obtain thermal energy from the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) or the industrial process. This device helps to improve energy efficiency that can reduce heating or production costs. Depending on the application, the recoverator may also be known as heat exchanger or heat recovery unit.
These units are commonly found in HVAC buildings. The heat recoverator is installed to work pipes just before the exhaust or grills. A pair of parallel boards inside the unit separates hot air from the cold air, directs the air to two separate places. Cold air is simply excluded from the building through traditional exhaust systems, while hot air is directed back to the supply pipe for reuse in the heating system.
The different types of recuperator designs can affect the heat recovery options for these systems. Vertical units are the least efficient and consist of vertical DEskys in a large outer case. Horizontal units that are more compact and use horizontal plates tend to be more efficient. The most effective units have an internal cellular structure that is recovering up to 99 percent of thermal energy.
HVAC recuperator must not be used throughout the year in areas with hot years and cold winters. Instead, users rely on a number of shock absorbers to walk around the recuperator if it is not needed. For example, during the summer, the shock absorber will be closed to prevent air from reaching the recuperator. Instead, all exhaust air is simply excluded into the countryside and there is no need to maintain a circulating thermal energy in the building.
Similar technology is used to restore thermal energy in production or industrial equipment. Many of these devices rely on the gas turbine engine that uses a mixture of hot air and fuel to createcombustion profile. In general, air must be heated before combustion using another heat source. In buildings with a recuperator, the exhaust gas created by combustion is simply recirculated back to the engine to mix with the fuel and supply another bike of the combustion. This eliminates the need for the second heat source and also helps reduce fuel costs associated with heating.
