What is a gang box?

The term gang box has two different and largely unrelated meanings, although both relate to construction work. A box of gangs can be a large tool box used by several or all work crew members. In electrical work, a box of gangs is a metal or plastic box used to safely hold the electric components.

These boxes are often left in the workplace, so durability and security are important in their design, because they must be able to withstand a little abuse and be difficult to break into them. Metal gang boxes can be used for almost any type of electrical work and are more common in older construction, commercial construction or in areas where electrical work could be exposed to damage because metal boxes are much TVmore than their plastic counterparts. These boxes come in the same basivety C as plastic boxes, although metal boxes are often made to remove one side of the box and another box that creates a larger box, so that metal boxes in some situations will be more versatile. When electrical work is installed using an armored cable or metal pipe, a line or cable in combination with metal boxes can often be legally used as a natural path without the use of a reserved ground wire.
