What Is a Roller Sprocket?

The roller chain sprocket is used in conjunction with the roller chain to form a chain drive for transmitting mechanical power. It is widely used in household, industrial and agricultural machinery.

The tooth profile of the sprocket teeth should ensure that the chain can enter and exit freely
The circle where the center of the chain pin on the sprocket is located is called the index circle, as shown in Figure 5.5.
Indexing circle diameter is:
The tooth tip circle diameter is:
Tooth root circle diameter is:
Where d 1 is the outer diameter of the roller.
The picture shows the commonly used sprocket structure. General small diameter chain
The material of the sprocket should ensure that the teeth have sufficient strength and wear resistance. Commonly used for medium carbon steel quenching or low carbon steel carburizing and quenching, surface hardness is 40 ~ 60HRC. The important sprocket can be made of alloy steel, and it can also be made of cast iron under low speed and steady load conditions. The small sprocket teeth have a large number of meshing times and are subject to large impacts. They are made of better materials. The sprocket materials commonly used are 20, 45, 20Cr, 40Cr, HT200 and so on. [1]
