What are short stretch bandages?
Short stretch dressing is a compression dressing that is used to reduce swelling in the limb. It is referred to as a short section because it does not stretch too much, which has nothing to do with its length. This type of bandage puts pressure on the skin and muscles to improve fluid absorption. When a person moves the injured limb, usually arms, legs or hands, the bandage provides a massage effect on muscles that could accelerate the healing process. These dressings are long stretch bandages, which means they have the ability to stretch quite far, usually more than twice the original size. Long stretch bandages do not provide a massage effect that makes short stretching bandages. Labeling the package should describe the length of stretching. If the stretch is expressed as a percentage, it should be less than 100 percent. The description of the product marking compares the outstretched bandage length with an uncontrolled length. In such a case, the stretched length should be less than twice the length.
The package designation will also provide details about the materials used in the bandage. Some of these bandages use latex, which can cause allergic reactions that can be quite unpleasant. Some brands are self -receiving and others must be fastened with clips or Velcro. They are made of 100 % cotton to be washed and reused, and usually come to widths from 1 to 4 inches (about 2.54 to 10.16 cm) and different lengths.
Like all elastic bandages, short stretch bandages should be carefully applied to be tight enough to be effective but not tight enough to interrupt blood flow. The person should usually start by wrapping the bandage at the fingers or fingers and work on the body to make the pressure higher at the bottom end. It may be important to often check the signs that the bandage is too tight. If the bandaged area becomes bluish, tingling, loses feeling or feels cold, then the obvvAZ modified.
Short stretching scruples are often used as one layer in the system of three or four layers of bandage for compression treatment of patients with chronic swelling. These were people suffering from chronic foot ulcers that could be caused by a wide range of circulation problems. They are also used in the treatment of lymphedema, which is swelling caused by blocking in the lymphatic system.
