What is the wound cover?

The wound cover or dressing is any suitable piece of material that covers and protects the wound. It is primarily used to prevent infection and facilitate the healing process of broken skin. Organic sources, such as plants, animal fat and honey, were some of the materials used as wound covers in antiquity, while synthetic polymers form covers of wounds from the 20th century. The type dictates the wounds that are obscured. The wound cover can be passive, interactive or bioactive. This can cause an infection that worsens the severity of the wound and may be spread to other parts of the body. The wound cover acts as a physical barrier that protects the wound from elements that can have microbes. Bacteria are blocked in the inlet and the process of natural skin healing can proceed. Some wound covers contain chemicals that accelerate wound healing, IGHT infections and minimize scarring.

correct wound assessment determines what type of wound cover should be afterused for the wound. Three basic types of wound covers are passive, interactive and bioactive. Passive wound cover, such as gauze or tulle, will serve as a simple cover that allows you to heal small wounds. Interactive wound covers, such as semi -permeable movies and foams and amorphous gels, absorb exudates and remove dead tissue from shallow wounds. Bioactive wound covers, such as alginates, hydrocolids and collagens, are suitable for exudative, intimate and granulated wounds.

2 vegetable fiber, roots and leaves were obtained from the surrounding plants. Fats, leather and honey were some materials used from animals. Knowledge of the properties of healing wounds was not based on science, but from experience, folklore and traditional medicine.

For centuries, those who studied medicine have developed a better understanding of wound healing. This knowledge has created a demand for better bandages that culminated in the development of wound coverage made of synthetic material in the 20th century. These advanced wound covers are composed of polymers, which are made in a complex way. The wound synthetic cover has better protective and healing properties than old and traditional types. Various proprietary types of wound covers can be used for all types of wounds.
