What is an eye patch?

Eye patch is something one wears to cover one eye while the other uncovered. The patch can be either a piece of fabric attached to the elastic zone to fit around the head or bandage. In most cases, for medical reasons, the eye patch is worn. These patches could be used to cover the eyes that are missing or disfigured or to correct vision in people with various eye problems.

historically, pirates and sailors can wear eye stains to help their vision quickly adapt to light and dark. Driving back and forth from the brightness of the upper boat to the darkness of the pitch under the deck often led to their eyes to constantly modify. Wearing the eye patch meant that the pirate had already had one eye to dark and the other treated to light. This probably saved the precious time, which allowed the pirates to go quickly from one level to another without being temporarily blinded until their eyes were fixed.

eye spots, most often in the form of adhesive spots, are used as TERApia of vision in correction of lazy eye, also called amblyopia. This form of treatment is usually used in children, because the problem often often leads to complete correction of vision. When amblyopia is left untreated after childhood, the result could be blindness in the affected eye or serious problems with the perception of depth. The use of eye patches on unaffected eyes forces the affected eye to focus, which often leads to complete correction of sight.

Some people wear eye stains to treat diplopia. This condition causes double vision and is diagnosed as a monocular or binocular diplopia. A person with binocular diplopia can normally see when one eye is closed. For monocular diplopia, the vision is affected no matter what. People with binocular diplopy benefit more of the eye patches than people with a monocular form, because when one eye is covered, they can normally see.

The traditional black eye patch was much more common before the invention of prosthetic eyes. It used to be the only way to cover the disadvantageIdent damage to the eyes or missing eye. Some people still wear them for medical purposes and others wear them in an effort to make a fashion statement. Famous entertainers such as David Bowie and Rapper Slick Rick used eye stains for health reasons, and fans followed to imitate their idols.
