What is moisturizing therapy?
Patients who are dehydrated or threatened by dehydrated are often treated with moisturizing therapy. In low -risk patients, therapy may simply include the patient to drink more water. If the patient is not able to drink enough water or if the patient is already dehydrated, doctors may also administer fluids through intravenous (IV) or subcutaneous lines. Alternative medicine and homeopathy also often use moisturizing therapy to improve the patient's general health.
The correct hydration is essential for good health. While most liquids hydrate a person, water is the best moisturizer and is almost always used in moisturizing therapy. Doctors can occasionally prescribe water that have sugars and electrolytes, albeit in lower quantities than what can be found in juices or sports drinks. Patients who are sick or injuries and are treated at home will often be asked to use moisturizing therapy as part of their treatment. In these cases the patients mustSimply assure that they drink as much water as their health care provider provides, which is often between 9 and 13 cups (2.2 and 3 liters) a day, although some patients may require more.
If the patient has been hospitalized, or if the patient receives home care from a doctor or nurses, another type of moisturizing therapy may be used. Medical experts often provide patients with fluids through IV or in some cases under the skin in the subcutaneous line. These fluids are mostly water, but also contain salts and sometimes sugars. Patients may be held properly hydrated or brought to the correct level of hydration by IV or subcutaneous moisturizing therapy.
Hydrating therapy is also commonly used in homeopathic and alternative medicine. Most of these treatments rely on the use of special waters that treated it or changed in another way. Water can bto inflate herbs and then diluted until these herbs are undetectable. PH and salinity of water can also be treated and trace elements of minerals can be filtered or added to the water. Although there were no scientific evidence that shows that these homeopathic waters are moisturizing than normal, pure water, patients often benefit from this treatment because they drink more water than they could otherwise.
