What is the difference between heparin and lovenox?
Heparin and Locenox® are two anticoagulant drugs commonly used to help prevent blood clots or slow down how quickly they form. They are also often used to dissolve existing clots and restore normal blood flow. The basic difference between them is that they have different molecular weights, causing them to behave differently in use. It helps in continuing smooth blood flow through these organs. Heparin, which is used for medical treatment, is not derived from human tissue, but instead is made of pigs or cattle pulmonary tissue. When used, these forms of derived heparin are indistinguishable from human heparin. When heparin injection, he works for dissolution or prevent clots for several hours.
LOVENOX® is derived from heparin. The difference is that it has been changed in such a way that it has a lower moleculent weight than heparin. This change of structure allows LOVOOX® to endure much longer than heparin, up to 24 hours, which is much more efficient in somesituations.
Despite the fact that heparin and Lovenox® are essentially the same purpose, they are used in different situations. Heparin is indicated whenever the patient is at risk of creating a blood clot that has to do with any intravenous (IV) drugs, dialysis or chemotherapy and can be given in the long term, for months or even years. On the other hand, hunenox® is a drug of choice if there are concerns about the problems of collision -related precipitation and must not be administered for more than 17 days. It is also used as a treatment of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism. If the patient ranges from injections to oral anticoagulance, hovenox® is used as part of the transition.
When heparin and LOVOOX® are served, heparin can be administered intravenously or subcutaneously - under the skin. LOVENOX® is injected only by subcutaneously. Frequent monitoring of the ability to clot blood is necessary when paThe cient uses heparin, but with LOVENOX® monitoring can be much less common. How often the patient is monitored depends on the condition of the patient and the dosage of heparin or LOVENOX® administration. Whatever medicine, both heparin and hovenox® are selected if the life can be used correctly.
