What is the Shettles method?

The Shettles method is a technique that allegedly allows parents to influence their child's sex by timing and using specific sexual positions. There is a considerable debate about this method. Adherents say it is very successful and can point out their own children as evidence, but numerous scientific studies have shown that the Shettles method and other tricks that are designed to affect sex, in fact, have no effect. In fact, a higher infertility rate has been observed in such studies, which may be caused by a number of factors beyond the techniques such as the Shettles method. Shettles believed that the sperm bearing X chromosome was larger, slower and more resistant, while the sperm of the Y chromosome was faster, smaller and finer. In particular, the chrospermia of the mosome was sensitive to the normally acidic vagina environment.

using this assumption, Dr. Shettles suggested a method for conception of timing that would allow parents to propagateAt either x or y sperm to get a girl or boy. For the girl, conception would take place before and after ovulation, with a shallow penetration to give more time to a slower sperm to defeat faster sperm. For boys, conception would take place as close as possible to ovulation, with a deep penetration to make allegedly fast male sperm ahead. Dr. Shettles also claimed that if a partner had an orgasm, it would be more alkaline, which increases the chance of survival for male sperm.

The Shettles method for selecting sex in scientific studies does not seem to be very effective; Statistically, there are slightly more girls than boys, for various reasons and attempts that sex does not work during conception. Numerous cultures have tried to find a reliable way of choosing sex in advance, and so far it seems that the best method is to use assisted reproductive technology to select embryos, with sex is one of the characteristics that can be easily tested before implantation.

It is not clear whether things like the Shettl methodES, increasing infertility, or associated with natural predisposition to infertility, it is more likely to try this method. Some scientists have suggested that the stress that surrounds sex and concept, including careful monulation monitoring and limiting sexual activity, can contribute to difficulty in conception in the testing of the Shettles method.
