What are Gothic movies?

Gothic films are those in a specific genre of film that attempts to re -create topics and environment present in classical Gothic literature. Topics often revolve around dark objects such as obsessed emotional states, darling family land, evil and supernatural, although there are many other and several variations. A defining feature of many Gothic films is the environment in which the characters exist, often act as a character in itself and gives the promotion of the atmosphere and conspiracy. Since the beginning of the film industry, there have been attempts to create film versions of classical Gothic literature from the 18th and 19th centuries and capture the nature of the genre in new stories set in modern times.
